Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup ketchup.
  • 1/4 cup water.
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar.
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika.
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
  • A small dash of liquid smoke.

Instructions
 

Combine All Ingredients

  • Put everything into the small saucepan. Use a whisk to mix it well.

Bring to a Simmer

  • Put the pan on medium heat. Wait until tiny bubbles show.

Lower the Heat

  • Turn the heat down to low. Keep simmering slowly. Do not let it boil.

Cook the Sauce

  • Cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Stir it sometimes so it does not stick.

Cool and Store

  • Take the pan off the heat. Let the sauce cool down completely. Put it in a clean glass jar.

Notes

  • Use good quality ingredients. It makes a big difference.
  • Taste as you go. Add more sugar if you like it sweet.
  • Simmer slow. This helps the flavors mix well.
  • Let the sauce sit in the fridge. Overnight is best for flavor.
