Measuring spoons
Small Tongs
- 1 lb GROUND BEEF
- 1/4 cup SOY SAUCE
- 1/4 cup BROWN SUGAR
- 1 tbsp SESAME OIL
- 1 tbsp FRESH GINGER
- 3 cloves GARLIC
- 1/2 tsp RED PEPPER FLAKES
- 12 small TORTILLAS
- 2 cups COLESLAW MIX
- 1/4 cup GREEN ONIONS
- 1 tsp SESAME SEEDS
Place the large skillet on the stove. Turn the heat to medium-high. Add the ground beef to the hot pan.
Cook the beef until it is brown. Break it into small pieces with a spoon. Drain the excess fat from the skillet carefully.
Add the garlic and ginger to the beef. Stir them for about one minute. You will smell the amazing aroma quickly.
Whisk the soy sauce and brown sugar together. Add the sesame oil and red pepper flakes. Pour this sauce over the cooked beef.
Let the beef simmer in the sauce. Do this for two or three minutes. The sauce will become thick and shiny.
Warm your tortillas in a separate pan. This makes them soft and very easy to fold. Do not let them get too crispy.
Scoop the beef into the warm tortillas. Top them with fresh coleslaw and green onions. Sprinkle some sesame seeds on top now.
- Use lean ground beef to avoid too much grease.
- Grate fresh ginger for the very best flavor results.
- Do not overcook the garlic or it turns bitter.
- Warm the tortillas right before you serve the meal.
- Add a squeeze of lime for extra bright acid.
- Double the sauce if you like extra juicy tacos.
- Use a cast iron skillet for better meat browning.
- Top with spicy mayo for a creamy flavor kick.
