Texas Roadhouse Steak Fries Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 3 large Russet potatoes.
  • 4 cups vegetable oil for frying.
  • 1 tablespoon Kosher salt.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika.

Instructions
 

Prep the Potatoes

  • Wash the potatoes very well. Keep the skins on for flavor. Cut them into thick wedges.

Parboil the Wedges

  • Place wedges in boiling water. Cook for about 5 minutes. They should be slightly soft.

Dry Them Completely

  • Drain the water. Lay wedges on paper towels. Pat them until they are very dry.

Heat the Oil

  • Fill your skillet with oil. Heat it to 375 degrees. Use a thermometer if you can.

Fry Until Golden

  • Drop wedges into the hot oil. Fry for 4 to 6 minutes. Look for a golden brown color.

Season and Serve

  • Remove fries from the oil. Place them in a bowl. Toss with the spices immediately.

Notes

  • Use Russet potatoes for the best texture.
  • Do not skip the boiling step.
  • Make sure the oil is very hot.
  • Dry the potatoes well before frying.
  • Season them while they are still oily.
  • Serve them with honey mustard or ranch.
